Avow (written by Bill C. Davis and directed by Buzz Bense and John Rowan) is about the human struggle to make and to keep vows of love and faith. It is set in motion when Brian and Tom ask Father Raymond, their parish priest whom they greatly admire for his radical views, to bless their relationship before God. He refuses to do so, obeying his church’s edict against gay marriage, and advises that their only recourse within the church is to remain celibate. Tom is stricken with a crisis of conscience, questioning whether his faith and his sexuality can be reconciled. This, in turn, brings down the wrath of Brian’s formidable sister Irene, and the collision of Irene and Father Raymond create some unexpected sparks and unanticipated consequences.

Fire Safe Sonoma’s Chippers Ahoy! Project provides free chipper service to Sonoma County residents engaged in making their property more wildfire safe. In the event of a wildfire, having 100 feet or more of defensible space has been clearly demonstrated to help save homes. Likewise, thinning vegetation on access roads can make it safer for residents and firefighters. We hope that having free chipper service to help you dispose of woody debris may inspire you to create beautiful, healthy and firewise landscapes around your homes and on roadsides.
Who is Eligible?
Sonoma County residents who are thinning vegetation to take care of defensible space requirements are eligible. Defensible Space is a 100+ foot radius around structures and along access roads. Please see Living with Fire in Sonoma County to learn more about Defensible Space and how to create it.
For more information including how to participate and how long the process will take, go to Fire Safe Sonoma’s website.

Every Sunday, 33-year old Nick Cristano, a NYC marketing executive, dutifully takes the bus through the Holland Tunnel under the Hudson River and into (the not very woodsy) Hoboken, New Jersey, to eat dinner with his two sets of grandparents. So when he announces that he’s been offered a big promotion that requires him to move to Seattle, his grandparents are stunned he’d even consider moving so far away. But they quickly concoct a match-making scheme to keep him close. If only Nicky were married — had children! – then he too would embrace the values they most cherish: family, faith and food.
